We continue our employee feature series, “Who’s Behind the Box,” with Shaitanya Clement, Imaging Department Lead at Fireproof’s Grove City facility. Follow along to learn more about Shaitanya.
To walk down a runway as a model or to be in the first group of women to serve in the Air Force both require a certain strength of character. Call it confidence, if you will. For Fireproof’s Shaitanya Clement, those jobs were stepping stones on the path, experiences she had that she wouldn’t trade and which helped form the person she is today.
Responsibilities At Fireproof
Shaitanya is responsible for making sure imaging is done properly, from prepping the documents to the final output. She sets up accounts when they arrive so that the customer’s expectations are logged in the Fireproof system.
“If there are any concerns or questions about the quality of the output, the other Fireproof employees in our department come to me and we look at the scan and decide whether it needs to be done again.
Advice To Fireproof Clients
“I definitely recommend they come in and look at our process,” said Shaitanya. “We are the best! We have so many different customers with a variety of needs, so my advice is that they tell us what they want and we will tell them how best to accomplish it.”
How Fireproof Is Better Than Competitors
“We give the customer the best quality we can,” said Shaitanya. “We really have the customer’s best interests. We’re not just trying to sell them something that they don’t need. A lot of scanning or imaging companies just scan it and don’t care how it looks. But we have quite a few quality check steps because we do want to present them with the best output.”
Shaitanya on Industry Trends
“Go Green!” says Shaitanya. “If you have to go to the doctor’s office and you haven’t been there for a long time they have to physically find your file. But if those files are converted to digital then all the doctor’s office employees have to do is look it up,” said Shaitanya. “Look at all the trees you’re saving!”
While Shaitanya used a doctor’s office as an example, there are many other industries going digital.
What Shaitanya Appreciates Most About Fireproof …
“Everyone takes so much pride in their work,” she said. “It comes back to the quality that they’re putting it out. If they’re not satisfied, they’re willing to try something else to raise the quality level. It puts that special touch in there. Any time there’s a problem you can go to anyone on staff and they’re willing to help.
“We have jobs at times that are scheduled after we normally get off work,” she said. “Our staff is always willing to make schedule changes to accommodate these situations. Everyone’s just willing. It’s always like that.”
Things You Don’t Know About Shaitanya:
- Shaitanya was a model: “I started hair modeling in ’78 and had a chance to participate in Hooray for Black Women, the first show by Ebony magazine. It was marvelous to be a part of a professional modeling. It wasn’t a paying gig but it gave me more experience. I felt lucky to be picked out of all the women who had applied. I actually modeled and walked down the runway and I got to see behind the scenes. It’s a very fast-paced environment. It’s chaotic.”
- Military Career: She served in the Military Police for the Air Force for 2 years. “I went into the military to finish paying for college. It was very interesting and especially at that time because women were new to the service. Some didn’t want you in there and some were glad to have you.
“It gave me more confidence and it gave me discipline which I believe people need nowadays. For some people discipline is hard and even for me at that time in my life. There were so many different people from different walks of life. I wound up making a lot of friends.”
- She’s a grandmother of nine!
- Shaitanya loves to play video games. Her favorite is Super Mario.
