Springtime Means Shred Time

As the flowers bloom, birds chirp and Earth Day approaches, everyone is gearing up for spring cleaning. To help promote environmental responsibility and community participation, Fireproof is hosting a number of community shred days this year!

Our first day was this past weekend at the “Clean Out Your Basement” event in the Short North. View pictures from the event on Fireproof’s Facebook page. Thanks to everyone who came out on a beautiful spring day. Knowing your information was destroyed, and then recycled, should leave you with a great feeling of accomplishment.  You have helped our planet by recycling!

Missed this shred day?  No worries!

Our next community shred day is this Saturday, April 24th at the Westerville Parks and Recreation (556 McCorkle Blvd. Westerville, OH 43082) Fireproof will be helping the city of Westerville celebrate Green Day at Hoff Woods Park from 10-Noon. The shred trucks will be in the parking lot near the tennis courts.  Pull up, drop off, and Fireproof will take care of the rest!

So be sure to stop by with all your old documents and paper!

Here is a quick answer to a reader question:

How do I know what to shred and what to store?

Answer:  Any records that are no longer required to be kept based on regulatory or internal retention policies should be destroyed in a timely manner. This includes all documents containing sensitive/proprietary information that are no longer needed.

How are you celebrating Earth Day, tomorrow?
